Immunisations

Your children should start their immunisation protection from the age of 2 months.  This will be performed at the surgery, usually at the baby’s first check.  You will always have the chance to discuss the programme with our practice nurses or health visitors at your baby’s first check up.

You are reminded German Measles protection can be given at 10 years of age for girls although new babies are given routine protection at 13 months and 4 years.

Inoculations for Overseas Travel

Travel overseas may incur special health risks.  You are advised to contact one of the specialist services for foreign travel health advice.  These include:

www.masta.org

www.britishairways.com/travel

www.fco.gov.uk/travel

www.thehealthstation.co.uk

You are advised to keep your inoculations up to date.  If you plan to travel abroad even for a short holiday, consult a practice nurse a few months in advance.  This will give you good time to plan inoculations which you may need.  There is a charge for some foreign travel immunisations and prescriptions.
